چکیده
Pd–Ag alloys are largely used as hydrogen separation membranes and, a consequence, the Pd–Ag–H system has been intensively studied. On contrary, fewer information is available for Pd–Ag–D system; thus, aim of this work to improve knowledge isotope effect on commercial Pd77Ag23 alloy, especially temperature above 200 °C. In particular, deuterium absorption measurements carried out in alloy range between 79 and 400 °C pressure 10?2 16 bar. exploited (p) composition (c) range, 300 pc isotherms display typical shape materials where only solid solution present while at lower temperatures these curves seem be better described by coexistence deuteride large range. The obtained results compared discussed with ones previously measured lightest isotope. Such comparison shows that exhibits clear inverse effect, equilibrium higher than factor ?2 solubility about one half hydrogen. addition, were assess deuteration enthalpy below ?Hdeut = 31.9 ± 0.3 kJ/mol, °C, increases 43 1 kJ/mol. Additionally, case lighter given both values result those reported hydrogenation. paper practical interest applications operating such or packing column, which interact gas stream containing isotopes.

This paper summarizes R&D activities and progress at NORAM Engineering and the University of British Columbia (UBC) on preparation and testing of thin palladium-based membranes and their applications. Most of these activities were carried out internally at NORAM, some jointly with UBC and their spin-off company, Membrane Reactor Technology (MRT) through a wide range of projects. Key results out...
متن کاملNanostructured Palladium-Doped Silica Membrane Layer Synthesis for Hydrogen Separation: Effect of Activated Sublayers
Palladium doped silica membranes were synthesized by the sol-gel method using two different procedures. The first palladium-doped silica membrane (M1) was synthesized with a coating of four layers of silica-palladium sol. The second membrane (M2) was synthesized with a coating of two silica layers followed by a coating of two silica-palladium layers. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) proved th...
